<p>Tonight, Friday 24 October, Leeds United and West Ham United will meet at Elland Road Stadium in Leeds, England, with the hope of improving their ailing English Premier League (EPL) campaigns.</p>



<p>The hosts sit three points clear of the EPL relegation zone with just eight points to their name, while the Hammers languish in 19th place with a measly four points after only one win from eight matches.</p>



<p>Daniel Farke’s side have been in control of their games statistically but have struggled to turn pressure into points.</p>



<p>“We dominated each and every aspect,” the 48-year-old Leeds coach said after last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Burnley, though his team’s failure to convert chances remains a major concern. The Whites have taken over a hundred shots this season yet possess one of the league’s lowest conversion rates.</p>



<p>Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has one goal so far, is expected to lead the line again, supported by Jack Harrison and Daniel James. Injuries to Wilfried Gnonto and Noah Okafor continue to limit Leeds’ attacking options.</p>



<p>West Ham, meanwhile, will arrive low on confidence after four straight home losses and amid growing fan frustration. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have scored only six goals and own the division’s worst defensive record.</p>



<p>With both sides desperate for momentum, a tense, low-scoring contest is likely to ensue. Leeds’ stronger home form could just tip the balance in what already feels like a crucial fixture.</p>

Leeds and West Ham Battle to Ease Early-Season Woes


<p>Liverpool ended their four-match losing streak in spectacular fashion with a 5-1 demolition of Eintracht Frankfurt in their UEFA Champions League game last night, Wednesday 22 October.</p>



<p>Arne Slot’s men conceded a goal to the hosts in the 26th minute at Deutsche Bank Park Stadium in Frankfurt, Germany. However, the visitors’ response was a display of renewed confidence and clinical finishing that banished recent frustrations.</p>



<p>Forward Hugo Ekitike equalised against his former club just ten minutes later, before Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate scored with headers from corners – both within five minutes of each other – to put Liverpool in control before half-time.</p>



<p>Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai added a goal apiece after the break, both assisted by the influential Florian Wirtz, who produced a standout performance for the Reds.</p>



<p>Slot’s decision to bench Mohamed Salah proved justified. The 33-year-old Egyptian international – who has struggled for form recently – was introduced later in the match but failed to make an impact. Injuries to Alexander Isak and Jeremie Frimpong were the only other concerns on an otherwise perfect night.</p>



<p>Now third in the English Premier League standings with 15 points, the Reds will turn their focus to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, England, this Saturday, 25 October.</p>

Liverpool Thrash Frankfurt to End Losing Streak


<p>Maccabi Tel Aviv have confirmed that they will not take up any ticket allocations for next month’s Europa League clash with Aston Villa, citing fan safety amid rising tensions.</p>



<p>Birmingham’s Safety Advisory Group had earlier ruled that no travelling fans would be allowed at Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, England, on 6 November, following advice from West Midlands Police, who deemed the fixture “high risk”.</p>



<p>The decision was linked to previous crowd trouble in Amsterdam last year, when Maccabi supporters clashed with Ajax fans.</p>



<p>British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer called the ban “wrong”, while Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said the government was working to ensure fans could attend safely. However, the Israeli club said that “a toxic atmosphere has been created”, making it unsafe for their supporters to travel.</p>



<p>Their decision comes just days after the Tel Aviv derby between Maccabi and Hapoel last Sunday, 19 October, was abandoned due to violent riots that injured police officers and fans.</p>



<p>Maccabi said in a statement released on Monday, 20 October, that football should “bring people together, not drive them apart”, insisting their fans are being unfairly blamed.</p>



<p>The move eases pressure on local officials but highlights deepening security and political concerns surrounding Israeli teams in European competition.</p>

<p>Harry Maguire’s towering late header sealed a dramatic 2-1 win for Manchester United on Sunday, 19 October, ending their nine-year wait for victory on Merseyside soil and plunging Liverpool into their worst run of form in over a decade.</p>

<p>The English Premier League (EPL) is edging towards a crucial vote in November regarding new financial controls that could transform the top-flight football competition.</p>



<p>At the heart of the debate is a proposed anchoring rule, effectively a salary cap that ties club spending to no more than five times the income of the league’s bottom-ranked team.</p>



<p>Supporters argue that the plan would maintain competitive balance and prevent the wealthiest teams from gaining an unfair advantage.
